About this site
My name is Missy *Poje. Some of you have probably seen me enthusiastically (evangelically?) speaking about marketing at various state and industry association meetings over the last 15 years. And if we haven’t met, here’s a little about me:
I entered the telecom industry in 1993 armed with a bright and shiny new degree in Advertising from the University of Kansas (go ‘Hawks!) I joined the National Cable TV Co-op (NCTC) crew back when there were less than 10 employees, only a few hundred member cable companies and a whole bunch of new cable networks going out of business; and then moved to CHR Solutions in 1997 to learn the telephone side. I found that I genuinely loved the industry and the people SO much, that I started my own marketing and advertising company, Poje Marketing & Advertising, in February of 2000 so I could focus solely on the marketing needs of small telecom companies.
I have been lucky enough to work with hundreds of extremely progressive companies over the years on some truly amazing projects. I remember standing at a white board with Dave Nieuwstraten back in 1997 in Dalhart, TX, working on the very first CLEC launch, and excitedly sketching out ideas about how we could (gasp!) PACKAGE A WHOLE BUNCH OF SERVICES TOGETHER AND SELL THEM FOR ONE PRICE!
I got to spend months on the road, conducting research and grilling rural telecom customers in small towns across the country. I still remember one focus group where we had to buy pizza from a Casey Mart 20 miles away and bring it to the library in town because there was nowhere to feed people. Good times!
Over the last 15 years I have met some incredible people—telecom marketing experts, industry leaders, people whose knowledge and innovation astound me on a daily basis. I contine to learn from these people–collagues, friends and clients every single day.
Which brings me to this site. By sharing some of my marketing ideas, tips and insights, it is my hope that you’ll take away something that can inspire you to make your marketing efforts more effective. And as always, if you have some valuable information to share, please don’t be shy! Contact me or post a comment. Any and all ideas are welcome!
*As many people are completely confounded by my last name (Podge? Poe-hay?) I thought we should clear this up from the get go. It’s “Poe-gee,” just like it sounds.
